Home?Documentation? What are the types of EAC certification for exports to Russia?
EAC certification refers to product certification conducted by member states of the Customs Union, including Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The certification mark features the letters EAC, hence it is also known as EAC certification. As the three Customs Union countries are abbreviated as CU-TR, it is also referred to as CU-TR certification.
The EAC certification is implemented under the leadership of Russia, aiming to improve product quality and safety standards in the Russian market and surrounding countries. Products with EAC certification can be directly imported and sold in the three countries of the Customs Union.
EAC certification is divided into three types: EAC certificate, EAC declaration of conformity, and EAC exemption letter.
(1)EAC certificate
The EAC Certificate of Conformity is issued by certification bodies and testing laboratories uniformly registered by the Customs Union. It applies to products with higher safety requirements, may involve testing and factory audits, and has a longer processing period.
(2) EAC Declaration of Conformity
The EAC Declaration of Conformity is based on the participation of Customs Union certification bodies, where the applicant declares the conformity of their products. It does not require sample testing or factory inspections, applies to products with lower safety requirements, and has a shorter processing period.
(3) EAC Exemption Letter
The EAC Exemption Letter is a document certifying that a product is exempt from mandatory certification requirements. Although there is no online system to verify it, the letter complies with Russian regulations, and the certification system can verify the issuing authoritys qualifications and authorization. The exemption letter cannot serve as proof of product quality, so in most cases, voluntary GOST certification is recommended.
When exporting to Russia and surrounding countries, obtaining EAC certification is necessary. Therefore, if you want to sell products in this region, entrusting a certification body to conduct EAC certification is an essential step.
